Eid al-Adha 2027 (10 Dhul Hijjah 1448 AH) is expected on Sunday, May 16, 2027, the day after the Day of Arafah. Qurbani can be offered from after the Eid prayer until sunset on Wednesday, May 19 (13 Dhul Hijjah).

What is Eid al-Adha?

Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah, and Allah’s mercy in replacing him with a ram. It falls on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, during the days of Hajj, and is the greater of the two Eids in Islam.

Qurbani (Udhiyah) 2027

Qurbani is a Sunnah mu’akkadah — and obligatory according to the Hanafi school — for every adult Muslim who can afford it. The sacrifice is made after the Eid prayer on May 16 and until sunset on May 19, 2027. The meat is traditionally divided into thirds: for the family, for relatives and friends, and for the poor.

If you intend to offer Qurbani, the Sunnah is not to cut your hair or nails from the start of Dhul Hijjah (expected May 7, 2027) until your animal is sacrificed.

Eid al-Adha Sunnahs

Make ghusl and wear your best clothes.
Delay eating until after the Eid prayer, ideally from your Qurbani meat.
Recite the takbir aloud on the way to the Eid prayer.
Attend the Eid prayer and khutbah, and take a different route home.
Visit family, share your Qurbani and remember those in need.
