Tips to Complete the Holy Quran During Umrah
Here are some helpful tips that will help you complete your Quran during Umrah.
Set a Realistic Quran Completion Goal
Setting a realistic goal and keeping your stay duration in mind is very crucial. First of all, determine how many days you will be staying in Makkah and Madinah. As you might already know, the Quran consists of 30 juz or parts that help you divide it according to your reading schedule.
| Umrah Duration | Daily Reading Target |
|---|---|
| 5 days | 6 Juz per day |
| 7 days | About 4.5 Juz per day |
| 10 days | 3 Juz per day |
| 15 days | 2 Juz per day |
| 30 days | 1 Juz per day |
You will have to set your target that matches your reading ability and the available time.
Start Preparing Before Your Journey
One of the best ways to complete your Quran during the Umrah journey is by building a recitation habit before departure. It is important to develop a pace beforehand to ensure that you meet your goals during the spiritual retreat.
Therefore, develop a Quran-reading routine and gradually increase your reading. Not only that, but you must also revise the difficult surahs and improve your fluency in recitation. Familiarise yourself with the Quran reading schedule to ensure a smoother experience at the pilgrimage sites. This is the perfect way to gain momentum and complete your Quran during the pilgrimage.
Make Use of the Time Between Prayers
You get several hours between the daily prayers that you can utilize to complete your daily Quran recitation goals. You can stay at the pilgrimage sites and avoid indulging in unnecessary activities during this time. This way, you can dedicate the time between prayers to reciting the Holy Quran.
You can:
- Read after Fajr until sunrise.
- Recitation between Dhuhr and Asr.
- Continue after Maghrib before Isha.
Even reading a few pages can help you achieve your goal.
Read the Quran in the Haram
The serenity and spirituality in the Haram and Masjid an-Nabawi are unmatched. It provides the perfect atmosphere to immerse yourself in various acts of worship with complete focus. This spiritual atmosphere fosters worship and reflection in the best possible way. Many pilgrims claim they can read the Holy Quran with greater focus at pilgrimage sites because of the unique, motivating environment.
While at the pilgrimage sites, you will be inspired to have longer, more consistent reading sessions. Choose a comfortable place, minimise distractions, and dedicate specific periods solely to Quran recitation.
Divide Each Juz Into Smaller Sections
Many people find it challenging to complete the whole Juz in one sitting. Therefore, the key to achieving your goal is to divide each Juz into smaller portions and fit it into your busy pilgrimage schedule. You can divide it like this:
- Read after each prayer.
- Complete several pages before Tawaf.
- Continue while waiting for congregational prayers.
- Read during rest periods in your accommodation.
Keep in mind that even if you read less in one sitting, you still have to be consistent. Consistency is key to achieving your goal of completing the Quran during your Umrah journey.
