"You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Guide us to the Straight Path."
Ibn Kathir notes that this verse represents the pinnacle of Tawheed (monotheism). Placing 'Iyyaka' (You alone) before the verb emphasizes absolute exclusivity: we direct zero worship to any creation, and rely solely on the Creator for every trial.
Imam As-Sa'di highlights that worship cannot be completed without divine assistance (Isti'anah). Thus, recognizing human helplessness and turning wholeheartedly to Allah is the secret to spiritual success.
