Hadith 9 • Al-Bukhari & Muslim

Obligations are according to Ability

ﷺ

مَا نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنْهُ فَاجْتَنِبُوهُ، وَمَا أَمَرْتُكُمْ بِهِ فَأْتُوا مِنْهُ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ... فإِنَّمَا أَهْلَكَ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ كَثْرَةُ مَسَائِلِهِمْ وَاخْتِلَافُهُمْ عَلَى أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ

Translation

"What I have forbidden for you, avoid. What I have commanded for you, do as much of it as you can... Verily, what destroyed those who were before you was their excessive questioning and their disagreeing with their prophets."
